The Child Advocacy Hall of Fame is proud to announce Mr. Nicholas “Nick” Bostic as our 2022 inductee
Nicholas Bostic, at the time a 25 year old employed as a pizza delivery driver was driving in Lafayette Indiana just after midnight when he spotted a house nearly fully engulfed in flames with no emergency vehicles on the scene. Without his cell phone to call 911, Nick pulled over and ran to the back door and yelled if anyone was inside.
Nick got no response but knowing human lives could be at stake, he didn’t want to chance it so he rushed into the thick black smoke and skin burning flames and located four children ages 1, 13,18 and another 13 year old who was sleeping over. Nick bravely led them all to safety and once outside, learned there was a 6 year old girl still trapped inside.
Looking back towards the inferno once a home, logic and common sense told Nick going back inside was a “suicide mission“ with a very high probability of experiencing a painful death or life with permanent disfigurement and health issues should he re-enter to look for the trapped little girl. .., to this Nick replied to himself ….,” I ACCEPT ! ! ! “ … and as fate would have it,.. at this exact moment ….the little girls life was dependent upon Nick accepting this suicide rescue mission.
Since that time, millions of people who have learned of this incident truly believe in their hearts and soul, Nick was aided that night by something unseen …something mind-shatteringly beautifully benevolent from outside the natural realm. Nick ran back into the smoke filled fiery inferno with the speed of an Olympic athlete to search and save the little girls life.
Nick searched different rooms, under beds and inside closets looking for the little girl through what Nick described as a “lagoon of smoke and flames”. Nick finally found the girl huddled and curled up in a corner crying and scooped her up in his arms but by this time the visibility was zero. Nicks skin was burning and his lungs filled with black smoke.
Unable to find his way out, Nick found the staircase and went upstairs to escape the heat and flames. Nick punched out a second story window cutting his hand badly in the process. With the little girl cradled in his arms, Nick jumped from the second story of the house intentionally landing on his right side to protect the girl from the impact of the fall sustaining injuries to his arm, spine and ankle. Ignoring his injuries, Nick got up with the girl still in his arms and police body-cam caught the moment Nick ran up to them with the “mostly uninjured” girl in his arms and collapsed on the ground. Nicks then asked if the baby was okay before requesting oxygen.
Nick was rushed to the Franciscan Health Hospital then transferred to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment for severe smoke inhalation, cuts, ankle, spine, arm injuries and burns to his body. Nick saved the lives of all 5 children including the family dog, Buffy. When word spread of Nicks heroic rescue of 5 children and the injuries he sustained as a result, his one hundred thousand dollar goal medical bill go fund me account rocketed past six hundred and fifty thousand dollars in no time !
The Children’s parents, Tiera and David Barrett expressed appreciation and gratefulness to the heroic bravery of Nick Bostic for saving the lives of their kids and now consider him one of the family. Local authorities characterized Nicks actions as “nothing short of courageous and heroic” . Nick doesn’t think of himself as a hero but when showed the body-cam footage Nick exclaimed “it’s unreal, sitting here telling you about it, it’s just unreal to me, It’s God, man, that’s all I can think of.”
Child Advocacy Hall of Fame 2022 Inductee, Mr. Nicholas Bostic’s actions are both the highest level and one the purest forms of child advocacy a human can engage in. Nick was given just one life and one body, he selflessly offered both to save the lives of children who were complete strangers to him. Nick risked his life and health to save children’s lives and committed acts of bravery so heroic, awe-inspiring and selfless, …it shocks the conscious of even the most seasoned tenured child advocate as well as the global population at large.
No human can or will ever exceed the level or purity of Mr. Bostic’s brave and heroic child advocacy actions…. nothing is above this, …..offering your life, personal safety and health in the face of death to help children in need is the highest form of child advocacy attainable in the universe, …. ONLY GOD IS ABOVE THIS ! ! ! ! ! ! !
We want to extend our congratulations and special thanks to 2022 Child Advocacy Hall of Fame Inductee, Mr. Nicholas Bostic. Nick became a Carnegie Hero Metal Recipient….North America’s highest honor for civilian bravery.
